Who would have thought that one of the stars of Dawson's Creek would go on to establish herself as one of the finest actresses of her generation? Although working only sporadically over the last few years, Michelle Williams is always guaranteed to turn in a stellar performance in any project she appears in. Distancing herself as far as possible from the teen drama in which she made her name, the actress made a conscious decision to appear in more challenging fare and has certainly reaped the dividends. The likes of Brokeback Mountain, Synedoche, New York, Blue Valentine, Shutter Island, My Week With Marilyn and Oz the Great and Powerful have showcased her incredible range and versatility, creating a filmography that refuses to see her pigeonholed. The 33 year-old already has three Academy Award nominations to her name, two for Best Actress and one for Best Supporting Actress, as well as numerous accolades from smaller awards bodies. Given the consistent quality of her output, it is only a matter of time before she eventually goes home with the big one.
