2. Robert Blake - Found Liable For Wife's Death
Veteran actor Robert Blake was arrested in 2002 for the murder of his wife, with the prosecution claiming that he had asked several stuntmen to kill her for him. Blake, however, couldn't be tied to the murder in any physical way, and as such the Jury motioned to acquit him of the crime. However, his late wife's three children filed a civil suit against Blake, attesting that he was responsible for her death, and in 2005, Blake
was found liable, being ordered to pay $30 million. Much like the O.J. Simpson trial, the case here seems to be as though the courts are saying "You planned it or did it, but we just can't prove it, so we'll punish you as best we can." Blake's movie career unsurprisingly has never recovered, and despite him expressing a desire for one final great role before he dies, he hasn't acted in a film since David Lynch's Lost Highway in 1997.
