Who the hell is Scott Leva? Good question. Aside from being a Hollywood stuntman and stunt co-ordinator, this unknown chap was tapped to play Spider-Man in the same Bob Hoskins/Lauren Bacall that Tom Cruise almost ended up in. In 1987 I was the number one slated to play Spider-Man for the film for Cannon ," said Leva on the matter. "I was the guy. They started using me in some cases as a model. And they did a photo cover, which I think was the only one where Peter is unmasked." It's impossible to judge how this would have gone down, since Leva hasn't done any acting work for us to judge him by since. He was presumably chosen in the beginning, though, given his training as a gymnast - obviously in the days before CGI, it would have been necessary for the actor portraying Spider-Man to have been super flexible, and Leva's talents - not to mention his ability to do the stunts - were obviously an essential element. And as he claims, he did appear on the cover of a Spider-Man comic book: The Amazing Spider-Man, issue #262. Like this article? Let us know in the comments section below.
