10 Actors You Won't Believe Almost Played Spider-Man
4. Edward Furlong
Remember that ill-fated James Cameron version of Spider-Man we mentioned earlier? The one that - thankfully - never happened? Well, long before Leonardo DiCaprio was considered for the Peter Parker position, Edward Furlong - best known for his role as John Connor in Cameron's own Terminator 2: Judgment Day - was primed for the part. Cameron's plan was to have Furlong as Spidey, and - brace yourselves - Arnold Schwarzenegger as Doctor Octopus. Can you imagine if this thing had gone through? Another Batman & Robin-sized mess, hm? When financial limitations stopped Cameron from being able to realise his Spider-Man movie, he went on to make Titantic instead - the rest, as they say, is history. So how might've Furlong fared as Peter Parker? On the surface, he might not seem like a very good match for the likes of Spider-Man - he's too raw and edgy, even on the surface, though his attitude might have worked for scenes where Spidey mocks and messes around with villains. Furlong's career didn't go very far anyway, but we can presume this movie would've ruined it as well.
