10 Actors You Won't Believe Almost Played Spider-Man
5. Josh Hutcherson
Legend has it that Josh Hutcherson and Andrew Garfield were pretty much neck and neck in the battle to play Spider-Man for the upcoming reboot - both actors even auditioned alongside Emma Stone, though presumably the chemistry between Garfield and his future girlfriend landed him the role over the Hunger Games actor. So although he didn't nab the part of Peter Parker, Hutcherson came ever so close - had Garfield been unable to commit, or had failed to audition, it's almost certain that he would have been our rebooted Spider-Man. So how might that have looked? Well, Hutcherson is a good actor, but he lacks the personality and aura that Andrew Garfield has in droves. He would have certainly done an okay job, but going by his depiction of Peeta in the Hunger Games movies, we could've been looking at somewhat blandy portrait - a bit wet for its own good. We also can't really imagine Hutcherson delivering the snarky or snotty lines that Garfield does in the reboot. Still, you never know. You can check out his audition online and judge for yourself, though. How does he fare?
