10 Actors You Didn’t Realise Played Batman

5. Michael C. Hall - Justice League: Gods & Monsters

It may not be obvious at first but Batman and the titular character from Dexter are not so different. Both characters are detectives who saw their parents being killed at a young age, which compelled them to form a secret identity where they punish the wicked.

When you look at it from that angle, it sounds like Michael C. Hall, who portrayed Dexter, was born to play Batman. So, when he was cast as the masked vigilante in Justice League: Gods & Monsters, no was surprised.

But Hall doesn't just play any regular Batman. This Batman... is a vampire. In this reality, Kirk Langstrom (who becomes Man-Bat in the regular DC universe), injected himself with a vampire bat coagulant, which turned him into a bloodsucking creature. This Batman does his best to uphold the law but struggles to keep his murderous urges in check, much like Dexter.

Because Hall is playing a vampiric Batman, it would've been so easy for him to cut loose. But as Hall has demonstrated countless times on Dexter, he's able to find the humanity in the most fantastical characters, making this Batman feel like a three-dimensional person rather than a comic book creation.
