10 Actors You Didn’t Realise Played Batman

4. Kevin McKidd - Justice League: The Flash Paradox

The animated feature, Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox, takes place in a reality where Bruce Wayne's father, Thomas Wayne, was inspired to become Batman after witnessing his son being murdered. For years, this incarnation of Batman patrolled Gotham, unleashing lethal force on any criminal foolish enough to stand in his way.

Because this is a more brutal Batman than fans are accustomed to, the studio needed to cast someone that could channel that level of rage. Bizarrely, the role went to, of all people, Kevin McKidd. Don't get me wrong. The Scottish actor is terrific as Tommy in Trainspotting and Owen Hunt in Grey's Anatomy. However, you wouldn't think he would be the first choice (or the tenth) to portray a psychotic version of Batman, even vocally.

But McKidd's husky voice is perfectly suited for the guardian of Gotham. Although he puts on a gravelly timber like Christian Bale, McKidd's Batman voice sounds less forced, making him come across as more intimidating (and less unintentionally hilarious).

If you ever wanted to see the guy from Grey's Anatomy playing a crazy, drunk version of Batman, you should give Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox a go.
