10 Actors You Forgot Had Minor Roles In War Movies

7. Hugo Weaving - Hacksaw Ridge

Hacksaw Ridge is a true story based on a heroic soldier, Desmond Doss, who refused to kill anyone or carry a firearm during World War II. Despite being bullied, beaten, and accused of being a traitor by his peers, Doss garnered the Medal of Honour after saving 75 soldiers on the battlefield.

The film was a mega-hit and proved its lead star, Andrew Garfield, was a truly gifted actor. In fact, his performance is so phenomenal, it's easy to forget who else popped up in the movie. Sam Worthington plays the captain who tries to have Doss discharged. Even though Vince Vaughn is better known for his comedic performances, here he portrays Doss's no-nonsense sergeant, Howell.

Bizarrely, people also forget Hugo Weaving appeared in Hacksaw Ridge as Doss' father, Tom... despite the fact he received an Oscar nomination! Considering it's Tom's philosophy that instils Doss with the belief that he must never take a human life, you'd assume Weaving would leave a bigger impression. Even though Weaving is phenomenal as always, most viewers don't have a clue who he played.
