10 Actors You Forgot Were In The X-Men Films
5. Hiroyuki Sanada – The Wolverine
Hiroyuki Sanada, of Westworld, 47 Ronin and being wasted in Avengers: Endgame fame, was also in The Wolverine alongside Will Yun Lee.
In the comics, Sanada's character, Lord Shingen, is a Yakuza boss, but in the film he was the heir to the Yashida Corporation, Japan's biggest company. In both versions he's the father of Mariko Yashida, a love interest of Wolverine, and in both he's not the best father to her, forcing her to marry another criminal boss in the comics and hitting her in the film.
Sanada's character spends a lot of the movie giving the evil eye to Wolverine before eventually duelling him towards the end of the second act. That duel, which conveniently happens on a suitably dramatic dark, rainy night, is the most memorable part of Sanada's screentime in the film but is genuinely a good scene so, you know, good for him.
