Hermione's home life is notably absent from most of the Harry Potter series: we learn little snatches of information about her growing up as a "normal" girl before being called to Hogwarts, but we don't actually get to see much of where she came from.

The only time we really do in the film series comes almost at its climax in a devastating sequence that shows Hermione choosing to wipe herself out of her parents' lives to save them from being destroyed if she is killed on the quest for the Horcruxes. Or in case the Death Eaters use them against her.

And though she's only on screen for mere moments, Hermione's mother is played by none other than Game Of Thrones' Michelle Fairley, whose fame climbed to the next level when she was cast as Catleyn Stark.
