10 Actors You Won't Believe Don't Have Oscars Yet
1. Glenn Close
An icon of the industry and a master of her craft, Glenn Close stands as the most nominated living actor without a win with seven nominations. At this point it almost feels like a bad joke as every time she is nominated the discourse always becomes 'is this finally Glenn Close's time to earn what she has deserved for so many years?'
Her seven nominations spanning from 1983-2019 include: The World According to Garp, The Big Chill, The Natural, Fatal Attraction, Dangerous Liaisons, Albert Nobbs, and The Wife. She could've won for any one of these performances but at the very least, her now infamously horrifying turn in Fatal Attraction trumps Cher's forgettable leading role in Moonstruck.
It is incredibly likely at this point that Close will extend her nomination record to eight this year for her supporting turn in Hillbilly Elegy. She has a stronger chance to get in than her co-star Amy Adams and, in a quieter Supporting Actress category, it would be easy to rally a campaign around Close's overdue Oscar.
Close is a legend of the silver screen and has been giving extraordinary performances for decades without the Academy showing her due support. At Seven nominations, she is more deserving than anyone else on this list.
