Even though she only emerged onto the scene a handful of years ago, Jessica Chastain has to be one of the most talented actresses around. As a result of her youth, shes at an early stage in her career that many esteemed actors are well past. Instead of looking back at all the times she should have won, she has the luxury of looking forward at the great films she has yet to make.
Ironically, even without that many films under her belt, Chastain can still make the claim that she was snubbed pretty badly back in 2013. Many wanted her to win Best Actress for her devoted performance in Zero Dark Thirty but she lost to golden girl Jennifer Lawrence. While that stung, it proved that she was a legitimate contender and would likely have a real shot at another one soon.
This year could provide that next chance. The Zookeepers Wife, a film about a Polish couple hiding Jews at their zoo during the occupation, absolutely reeks of Oscar bait, and as the lead, she is sure to be noticed. If not for this film, then Chastians name will be called soon enough anyways.
