The next actress on our list might not have the Nordic features of Malin Akerman, but slap a blond wig on her and shes more than qualified to play the Goddess of thunder: the tough as nails Rhona Mitra. Thors adventures often take place in the mythical realm of Asgard, a land populated by fictional creatures drawn from Norse mythology like dwarves, elves, trolls, and giants; so, any actress who takes up the mantle of Thor will have to be able to convincingly sell the crazy fantasy world around her. Mitra prior onscreen work already involved her doing battle in medieval-inspired cinematic fantasylands. In 2008, Mitra played Eden Sinclair, an SAS soldier with a take-no-prisoner attitude. In the feature, Sinclair invades a virus-ravaged Scotland that has reverted back to feudal times; Mitra nailed the role, kicking all kinds of armour-clad butt. The next year, Mitra found herself again doing battle in a medieval setting, this time in the middle of a vampire vs. werewolf war in Underworld: Rise of Lycans. In both roles, Mitra handled herself with aplomb. If the powers that be at Marvel decide to tap her for a Thor reboot, she is more than qualified to wield mjolnir.
