10 Actresses Who Made An Unexpected Splash In Popular Franchises
6. Margot Robbie - Suicide Squad
Robbie first broke through via Aussie soap staple Neighbours and airheaded international intrigue dud Pan Am. She went on to burn up the screen for Martin Scorsese in The Wolf Of Wall Street, but the role she's about to become world famous for is a strange match indeed: The Joker's main squeeze Harley Quinn in Sucide Squad. Showing she had depth opposite Leonardo DiCaprio is one thing. Portraying a homicidal clown slash femme fatale is quite another. You could argue an edgier actress should have gotten the part. Perhaps that's the point director David Ayer is trying to make. She may look like a doll, but one coming off a decidedly dodgy production line. On the evidence of the trailer Warner Bros has chosen wisely. She cuts a striking figure in hotpants wielding a baseball bat, though still conveys that sense of danger which accompanies anyone hoping to score with this particular fallen angel.
