Teri Hatcher was a familiar face on television by the time that she was cast in the brief, but memorable role of Paris Carver, wife of Bond villain, Elliot Carver (Jonathan Pryce) in Tomorrow Never Dies (1997).

A rising star following her role as Lois Lane in Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman (1993-1997), it seemed as though a major film production would be the natural next step for Teri.

However, Hatcher had not actually wanted to take the role of Paris and had only done so because her then-husband, Jon Tenney had wanted to be married to a Bond Girl. Sadly, she has since described her role as Paris in Tomorrow Never Dies as “an artificial kind of character” that she did not gain “any special satisfaction from”.

Although she has appeared in further films, her major claims to fame after appearing in Pierce Brosnan’s second Double-0 Seven movie have been a leading role in the television series, Desperate Housewives (2004-2012) and continuing her association with Superman-related projects.

I started writing for WhatCulture in July 2020. I have always enjoyed reading and writing. I have contributed to several short story competitions and I have occasionally been fortunate enough to have my work published. During the COVID-19 lockdown, I also started reviewing films on my Facebook page. Numerous friends and contacts suggested that I should start my own website for reviewing films, but I wanted something a bit more diverse - and so here I am! My interests focus on film and television mainly, but I also occasionally produce articles that venture into other areas as well. In particular, I am a fan of the under appreciated sequel (of which there are many), but I also like the classics and the mainstream too.
