10 Adored Movie Characters You'd Learn to Hate in Real Life

10. James Kirk - Star Trek (2009)

Who He Is in the Movie: The Renegade, Charismatic Captain-to-Be Who He Is in Real Life: The Guy Who is Convinced He Can Get Away with Anything Like many dashing protagonists on this list, Captain Kirk is a my-way-or-the-highway fella even before he sits in the Captain's chair. He cheats on what would be considered his final and then expects to actually get away with it by proving in trial that the test in question is flawed. He's bold and brash, which provides for some great cinematic moments, but also makes me want him to stay away from me at all times. Because we all know someone who thinks they're God's gift to humanity (heaven forbid you or I are that person) and can smooth things over, no matter how radically, because they're the first ones to figure something out or do something boldly. Kirk might be an exciting friend for a while, but as time goes on, his schtick would grow old and he'd become exasperating to have to hang out with.

Cameron Carpenter is an aspiring screenwriter, current film and journalism student, and self-diagnosed cinephile, which only sounds bad in certain circles. Devoted fan of comics, movies, theater, Jesus Christ, Sidney Lumet, and Peter O'Toole, he sometimes spends too much time on his Scribd and comicbookmovie.com, but doesn't think you're one to judge, devoted reader. You can follow him on Twitter to watch him talk to people you didn't know exist. Oh, and Daredevil is quite the big deal around here (my head).
