10 All-New All-Different Marvel Ideas The MCU Should Use
1. Captain America: Sam Wilson
The expectation for years has been that once Chris Evans is ready to stop picking up the shield, then Sebastian Stan will pick it up. And while an MCU adaptation of Bucky's transformation into Captain America would be great to see, a few years ago, Marvel opened up the door for another possibility: what if Anthony Mackie gets the shield instead?
Mackie's performance as the Falcon in The Winter Soldier and Civil War has been one of the high points of the MCU. And as great as Stan's take on the Winter Soldier is, it's hard to deny Mackie's scene-stealing charisma whenever the camera's on him.
But who's to say it has to be either/or? In the comics, Steve Rogers recently donned the red, white, and blue once again, so Marvel currently has two active Captains America. No reason the movies couldn't go for a similar approach.
The more you think about it, the more sense this makes. In Civil War, Sam helped Tony find Steve and that enabled the defeat of Zemo. So the US government probably has a more favorable view of Sam than it does of Steve (and certainly more than Bucky). If Steve goes down in the next few Avengers films, the government would probably offer the shield to Sam before it ever offered it to Bucky.
