If there is one character that fans have begged to get a solo film franchise out of, it's Black Widow. It's really surprising that Scarlett Johansson hasn't gotten the opportunity to headline her own superhero film. Even after being a pivotal character in the past two Avengers and Captain America films, it's Wonder Woman who's going to beat Natasha to a solo film.

It's time to change that. And the current Black Widow series that's come out of ANAD Marvel by Chris Samnee and Mark Waid provides a great template. Highly visual and kinetic, the series features Black Widow going on the run.

Gee... that kind of sounds like where Natasha's at in the current MCU, doesn't it? SHIELD's underground and after helping Cap and Bucky escape in Civil War, Stark warned Natasha that T'Challa told Ross about her betrayal and that "they'll be coming for you."

We never got to see what happened to Natasha after that. A Black Widow solo franchise could do that. It could also explore her past and allow for some meatier appearances from other SHIELD agents, like Hawkeye, Fury, and Maria Hill.

The world is ready for a Black Widow movie, Marvel. Make it happen.
