The Ending We Got

In the run up to Ant-Man And The Wasp's release, we were all told that the sequel would be KEY to Avengers: Infinity War thanks to the importance of the Quantum Realm to the plot. In the end, the links weren't exactly definitive but the film's finale did see Scott Lang trapped in the Quantum Realm alone and everyone else snapped away as victims of Thanos' Decimation.

We only see the victims having disappeared and Scott left alone in despair.

The Ending We Almost Saw

That was a pretty grim way to end things, particularly as it was hard to see a way out for Scott, but apparently the ending was originally even more bleak. Evangeline Lily revealed that the snap victims were all filmed dissolving to ash, as Peyton Reed had planned to show it all on screen, echoing the end of Infinity War.

Ultimately, Reed chose to only show the aftermath of the Decimation, which Lily was happy with as she didn't believe her acting for that sequence was up to standard:

I'm so grateful that they did cut that out. Because at that point I have not seen Avengers: Infinity War. So, I had really no idea what a dusting looked like, or felt like, or what's supposed to be, and I don't think Peyton [Reed] really did either. … Once I watched Avengers: Infinity War, I realized I dusted terribly. I did a really bad job of that. I had no idea really what was happening.
