10 Alternate Star Wars Movie Scenes We Almost Got To See
8. The Emperor's Lava Lair Is Revealed - Return Of The Jedi
Despite the first real lava-centric Star Wars planet and locale only being introduced in the Prequel Trilogy's final entry, Revenge of the Sith, it's clear from a number of once-considered concepts for the OG trilogy of films that George Lucas and co. had wanted to turn up the heat long before Anakin Skywalker got scorched on Mustafar.
After first being mooted to be used in The Empire Strikes Back whilst simultaneously introducing Darth Vader's now-iconic castle, Lucas once again went back to the lava well for an idea that would've involved us stepping into the evil Emperor's fiery throne room in Return of the Jedi.
This heated setting would've played host to the climactic exchange between Luke, Vader, and The Emperor in the closing stages of ROTJ. But, sadly it was again passed up on, this time in favour of simply staying put on the second Death Star.
Though it would've no doubt been incredibly cool to witness Vader and Luke crossing lightsabers whilst surrounded by the substance that had once changed the former forever, the sight of the two clashing whilst Luke's friends battled to conquer the Empire in the background was also too sweet a visual to be missed.
