10 Alternative Comics That Would Make Killer Movies

3. Planetary

Plot: Warren Ellis' story revolves around super team Planetary; an organisation who investigate the secret history of the world which brings them into contact with alternative versions of figures from popular culture. The self-styled 'Archaeologists of the Impossible' consist of three supers with different powers as they investigate everything from Godzilla to Sherlock Holmes. The Pitch: X-Men vs. The Fantastic Four. Why It Would Make A Killer Movie: This story takes everything familiar about the superhero genre and makes it seem fresh and new. As Planetary travel the world investigating strange phenomena for the betterment of mankind, they are opposed by the Four, evil versions of the Fantastic Four, who are intent on using the secrets of the world for personal gain. There are epic storylines, lots of bone-crunching action and even musings of the meaning of life as mathematical equations. Yeah, it gets pretty deep. Planetary would make a visually stunning film as the team get to investigate outer and inner-space, other dimensions, secret islands and the past, but the biggest attraction is actually seeing what would happen when fan favourite characters from both Marvel and DC interact. Superman, Green Lantern and Wonder Woman all come to the attention of the Four (unfortunately for them), and we get to see a tragic but strangely logical death for the Incredible Hulk in this post-modern and enthralling story.
