8. "Girl" in Red Cloak (Don't Look Now)
There are very very few films that actually have the power to scare me, and although I jump easily at scary films (embarrassingly easily) very few horror films actually horrify me. I don't know why for sure, but the 1973 classic film starring Donald Sutherland and Julie Christie did just that, and if I could recommend any one watch any film before Halloween it would certainly be this one. For those who are aware of the movie or have seen it, you may consider the image above a pretty big spoiler for the movies finale scenes... but I watched this film only recently having already seen the end scene and I was still as horrified when it happened even though I knew it was coming. In a weird way, it made me more horrified as I knew it was all leading to this terrifying point. I don't want to give the plot away to anyone who hasn't seen this movie... but this would be a pretty awesome costume to go to the Halloween party as if you have seen the film. All you would need is a little bit of creative face makeup, a red cloak and a fake knife (if you've seen the film you know why). The only problem with this costume is that many people at the party would probably think you were coming as a zombie Red Riding Hood (which wouldn't in itself be a terrible idea).
