No year is complete without a production famous for running into difficulty. In 2013 that was World War Z and in 2014 that is most definitely Jane Got A Gun. This western, released in August, has seen its original director (Lynne Ramsey) jump ship one day into production and the male lead, Dan Frost, gunslinger and love interest to Natalie Portman's Jane, re-cast twice with original bad guy Joel Edgerton taking the role after Michael Fassbender and Bradley Cooper dropped out with Ewan McGregor filling Edgerton's boots as the villain but only after Jude Law dropped out. The film may not have Fassbender, Cooper or Law attached anymore but the current cast are all talented actors capable of great performances and the story has potential. Portman's Jane is married to an outlaw who betrays his gang, led by the vicious John Bishop, who set their sights on revenge. Outnumbered and outgunned Jane's best hope of survival after her husband gets filled with lead rests with her old flame and gun slinging bad ass Edgerton as she must grab a gun and take matters into own hands. Robert Rodriguez's Sin City: A Dame To Kill For has also been beset with problems. The sequel to the 2005 hit has been in development hell for years but finally makes it to the screen in August and sees Bruce Willis and Mickey Rourke reprising their roles from the original with new comers Joseph Gordon Levitt, Josh Brolin and Eva Green joining this adaptation of Frank Miller's stylised comic series but after 9 years since the original, the only question is, has Rodriquez left it too late for anyone to give a damn?
