10 Alternative Must See Films Of 2013

2. Oldboy

url-5 The thought of remaking a classic film less than 10 years after the ground-breaking original is not something that fills film fans with optimism and anticipation (more like, oh god why). That has certainly been the general consensus about Spike Lee€™s remake of Park Chan-Wooks Oldboy, released in October. The decision to make an English-language version certainly represents the biggest gamble on this list. However, with news that it follows the original source materia - a Japanese Manga of the same name by Garon Tsuchiya - more closely than the first film, allows for the possibility of some interesting changes to a still very compelling story. Josh Brolin is now the man imprisoned without explanation for years seeking answers (and bloody revenge) when he is released and features Sharilto Copley and Samuel L. Jackson rounding out the cast. Spike Lee has shown his metal taking on this risky project so I€™m hoping for the best but, If you prefer a less uncertain finished product, you go opt for White House Down which is out at the end of September. Roland Emmerich directs Channing Tatum as a secret service agent trying to protect President Jamie Foxx when terrorists invade the White House and no, it isn€™t a remake€ it just sounds like you€™ve seen it before.
