3. The World's End

In August, Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost return with the third instalment of their Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy, following the excellent Shaun Of The Dead and Hot Fuzz. The World's end is the story of five estranged friends reuniting for an epic pub crawl ending in the eponymous World's End pub. Unfortunately, their night on the town happens to coincide with the end of the world via some as yet unspecified event. Wright, Pegg and Frost have consistently delivered fresh and hilarious takes on genre films and, with Pegg hinting that The World's End is in the tradition of the work of John Wyndham, now they plan to do to science fiction what they did to zombie horror and buddy-cop actioners. With Shaun Of The Dead and Hot Fuzz only making $13 million and $23 million respectively at the box office, lets hope this final instalment to an innovative and much-loved trilogy finds a bigger audience. In August, another comedy sequel is released but that is where any parallels with The World's End stop. Adam Sandler, Kevin James and Chris Rock return in the sequel to Grown Ups, which took over $150 million at the box office incidentally. Expect more of the same childish humor and wish fulfilment storylines for Adam Sandler whose character is married to Salma Hayek.
