10 Amazing 2019 Films That Didn't Get A Single Oscar Nomination

8. Midsommar

While divisive, there's no doubt that Midsommar is a necessary experience for any fan of original horror, or just cinema in general. Florence Pugh was correctly recognised for her role in Little Women, but her leading role here is even more sensational.

The Oscars have never been too fond of the horror genre, and it was clear early on that despite a breathtaking performance, the sheer weirdness of Midsommar would lead to it being blocked out by a large portion of Academy voters; the same fate that befell Toni Collette in director Ari Aster's 2018 film Hereditary.

Still, Midsommar is possibly the most unique cinematic experience of 2019. Even if the style ends up not being quite to your taste, it's still an essential watch. Give it a try; the beautiful scenery and Pugh's performance is enough to make it worth your while even in a worst case scenario.

Chances are I’m watching a movie or replaying Mass Effect rather than doing anything productive.
