10 Amazing Actors Yet To Realise Their True Potential

10. Cillian Murphy

Red Lights Cillian Murphy
Millennium Entertainment
You can be sure an actor's career is on the right track - if not soaring into the stars - once they've landed a starring role in a premium television drama, and Cillian Murphy achieved this recently with his performance as Tommy Shelby, leader of the titular gang the Peaky Blinders. Peaky Blinders isn't the first time Murphy has channelled his intense, piercing eyes into a dark role - he used them to great effect in Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight movies as Dr. Jonathan Crane/Scarecrow. He's also noted for his range, with more measured and intelligent performances to be found in Ken Loach's exceptional film about the Irish resistance movement, The Wind That Shakes The Barley and a star turn (sorry) in Danny Boyle's trippy sci-fi horror Sunshine. With supporting roles in Ron Howard's In The Heart Of The Sea and Ben Wheatley's Free Fire on the horizon, the quality of Murphy's collaborations looks set to improve. Hopefully a project where he gets to take the lead won't be too far away.
