10 Amazing Futuristic Technologies Utterly Wasted In Their Own Movies

9. The Blade Franchise €“ Blade€™s Tolerance of Sunlight

BladeThe Technology Well, it€™s technology in the loosest sense of the term, but Bane is kept as a half-vampire through a complex serum which allows him all the benefits of vampire strength with less blood-lust and a tolerance to sunlight. He uses this to hunt vampires as they prowl around the city looking for fresh meat, and busts into vampire raves to kick ass and take names. What They Should Have Done With It Granted, Blade€™s done a pretty bang-up job with his gifts by choosing to hunt down vampires and all that, but why does he do it at night, when the vampires are in their element? He and his vampire-hunting buddies are daywalkers, so can just as easily prance about in the sunlight. However, with the exception of Blade Trinity €“ which features Dracula, who can walk in sunlight because he€™s king of the vampires €“ we almost never see him do this. Just think about that for a moment. Bane has a 12-hour advantage on the creatures he€™s fighting, yet never chooses to bring the pain with the sun beating down. We€™re shown throughout the Blade series that vampires become ash in a matter of seconds if they€™re exposed to UV, so it€™s not like it€™s a big secret. So if he did fight in the day, not only would he have the advantage of his martial arts training and his kick-assitude, he€™s got the environment on his side. Yes, vampires tend to dwell in dark places during the day, but they€™re only guarded by puny familiars who wouldn€™t be able to stop Blade from tearing down the window blocks. If he did this, he could trap them like fish in a barrel before throwing in a UV grenade. As it stands, Blade€™s just making a lot more work for himself.
