10 Amazing Futuristic Technologies Utterly Wasted In Their Own Movies

8. The Matrix €“ Neo€™s Matrix Superpowers

NeoThe Technology After a whole film of Laurence Fishburne telling him he€™s awesome, Neo finally realises he€™s the Chosen One of prophecy after being gunned down in a hallway by Agent Smith. He gets back up and sees his perspective€™s changed €“ he can now see all the code of the Matrix, and can bend it to his will. He€™s able to fly, beat things up, manipulate bodies, beat things up, perform glitches and beat things up. He duly translates these new abilities into beating people up before jumping into Agent Smith and exploderising him. For the remaining two films, he continues to beat people up before getting into an almighty throwdown with a now-unplugged Agent Smith. What They Should Have Done With It If Neo can see all the intricacies of the Matrix, why is he still beating people up? After all, here is a man who can jump into the very code of the Matrix itself, pull at its strings and even demolish its programmes. If he can onliterate matter on such a fundamental level, why does he insist on throwing down with people? Case in point, the start of Reloaded. Neo senses that there are Agents outside the rebel meeting and tells everyone to scarper quickly. He then takes on three agents with no fuss at all €“ he notices there€™s been upgrades to their fighting ability, but he still nonchalantly beats the living snot out of them before catapulting off himself. He could have easily just demolished them on a fundamental level but he didn€™t, probably because he wanted to look super-tough and kickass. Yet if he had, he could€™ve saved himself some time. The only person it made sense that he actually fought was the virus version of Smith, yet he was still able to tear him apart from the inside, albeit at the cost of his own life. If he knew all this was possible, then why didn€™t he do this from the start and spare himself all the kung-fu trickery?
