10 Amazing Horror TV Shows With Soul Destroying Endings

This is, without a doubt, one of the best horror shows ever put on television. It’s visually breathtaking, masterfully crafted and absolutely bloody grim.

Detailing the lives of FBI profiler Will Graham and the infamous Dr Hannibal Lecter, the two engage in an intricate game of cat and mouse that draws them closer and closer into one another’s lives.

Mads Mikkelsen and Hugh Dancy play Lecter and Graham with a fierce tenderness that makes the viewer see them as they see one another, but it becomes clear their relationship is doomed to self-destruct – unable to exist with the other, but unable to fully be themselves without the other. Can you tell I could talk about this show for a long time?

Anyway, like their Greek mythic counterparts Patroclus and Achilles, the two end their journey in battle. Bloodied and bathed in moonlight, they team up to kill The Great Red Dragon together, and are left clutching one another on the edge of a cliff. They seem to realise they have completed one another, and that there is nothing left to do, and so Will pulls them over the cliff’s edge.

Like the rest of the show, this scene looks gorgeous but god it hurts. Perhaps what makes it more painful is that the show was cancelled early, and that more tales of Lecter and Graham were to be told. Fingers crossed that Hannibal gets renewed – I just want to know if Will’s dogs are ok.
