10 Amazing Movie Stunts Achieved Through Reckless Endangerment

7. Sitting Up To (Narrowly) Avoid Decapitation - Hellboy

Hellboy In contemporary Hollywood, we don't expect this sort of brazen carelessness, but Guillermo del Toro brought some of that old guard spirit to the set of Hellboy, during the filming of a scene that required Hellboy to sit up mere moments before a train would otherwise decapitate him. Rather than use a CGI train or anything studio-approved, del Toro simply had the stuntman, Todd Bryant, lay down with a train being shot into his face, while two men held his legs down, allowing him to sit up and scarcely miss having his head lopped off by several tons of careening metal. The producers weren't keen on it, and the entire crew was naturally nervous, evidenced by the fact that Bryant received a huge round of applause when it was all said and done. All for just a few seconds of a relatively average movie? Gotta admire that dedication, though.
