10 Amazing Movie Stunts Achieved Through Reckless Endangerment

6. Dangling From A Clock Face Without A Net - Safety Last!

safety last harold lloyd Harold Lloyd might not be as famous as other stars of the era like Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton, but he was another master of physical comedy, and also noted for putting his life on the line when duty called. His 1923 classic, Safety Last!, has Lloyd's character climb up a 12-story building, before hanging perilously from a clock, an iconic image that has been homaged in both Back to the Future and Hugo. Lloyd climbed an artificial building exterior which was built on top of another rooftop, in order to give the camera a bewildering view of both Lloyd out on the ledge, and the streets below. Lloyd was still several hundred feet in the air, and had he fallen, it would have surely resulted in his death. The stunt became immensely popular with audiences, and remains one of the most daring feats ever committed to film; no rear projection here.
