10 Amazing Movies Made On Shockingly Small Budgets
1. Colin - $70
Colin is a zombie movie that premiered at Cannes in 2009, and it cost $70. Yes, you read that correctly.
Coiln is a zombie movie told entirely from the zombie's perspective, following a man who wanders London during the zombie apocalypse. It was shot on a Panasonic mini-dv camera and edited on Abode Premiere, and everyone worked for free, either as a favor to Price, just for fun or to have something to add to their resume. It took 18 months to film, since once again everyone involved had day jobs. Price himself was working as a taxi driver at the time.
What was the $70 spent on specifically? According to Price, a crowbar, a few tapes, and some tea and coffee for the extras. So yes, some of that budget wasn’t even spent on anything in the movie itself.
In addition to getting a DVD release, this $70 movie actually did make it to one theater in the UK, grossing $798. That might sound like much, but just getting such a low budget film into a movie theater at all is a pretty crazy achievement. And with the rise of iPhones and other technology that makes the process even easier, it's only a matter of time before you see your first $0 film hit theaters.
So there's really no excuse: get out there and make your movie.
