10 Amazing Movies Over Three Hours Long

3. Schindler's List

Lord Of The Rings Return Of The King Aragorn
Universal Pictures

Runtime: 3 hours 15 minutes

In 1993, Steven Spielberg released both Jurassic Park (June) and Schindler's List (December). Let that sink in.

There isn't a better set of movies to point to that demonstrate why he's one of the greatest movie-makers in history. Is there any other director capable of making an exhilarating, scary blockbuster about ravenous dinosaurs, as well as a dark, touching World War II-set tale about a German businessman saving Jewish people from the holocaust, in the same year?

One of the most remarkable things about Schindler's List is how it's able to blend the horror of war with a genuine feeling of hope, something portrayed visually with the use of a black and white palette contrasted with the deep red of a young girl's coat. It's thoughtful, brilliantly-acted, and deservedly earned Spielberg a Best Director statue at the 1994 Oscars.

He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
