10 Amazing Movies You Probably Haven't Seen (And Why)

Why You Probably Haven't Seen It: This was Robert Downey Jr. a couple of years before his big Hollywood comeback, pairing up with Val Kilmer nearly a full decade after audiences had stopped taking him seriously as an actor.

Putting them together seemed like a guaranteed way to keep fans far, far away from the movie. And you know what? It worked!

Why You Should: Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is that rare film that tries to be ultra hip and meta in its presentation and actually succeeds. It plays up the most common tropes found in buddy crime capers while openly mocking them with voiceovers, incessantly breaking the fourth wall, and then mocking that as well.

Basically, director Shane Black would be giving critics plenty of ammo to call his movie a Guy Ritchie ripoff if it failed. Luckily, it doesn't.

The chemistry between Downey and Kilmer exceeds any onscreen relationship between Iron Man and his many avenging cohorts, with the two veteran actors playing off each other with a casual charm that makes you want to believe they grew up in the same household.

Honestly, Downey and Kilmer should have never stopped working together after the outrageous amounts of awesome they managed to curate in this feisty little film noir. They should've went on to have a whole trilogy of their Sherlock and Watson-meets-Laurel and Hardy schtick.
