10 Amazing Scenes In The Halloween Franchise
2. The Final Fight - Halloween (2018)
Bringing the series back to its roots and ignoring the tangled web of sequels and familial connections, 2018's Halloween allowed audiences the pleasure of an uncomplicated, simple slasher movie. Michael Myers was scary again, a legitimate threat, not just an unkillable punchline.
This film finally delivers the ultimate showdown between Michael Myers and a gun-toting Laurie Strode, devoting its entire ending to cat and mouse antics and a to-the-death tussle between the two.
When Curtis' Laurie Strode finally succeeds in luring The Shape to her fortified home the fight is on... and it's dirty, as Michael bursts his way in, only for Laurie to shoot off two of his fingers! From here it's an incredibly tense hunt as Laurie follows a bloody trail room-to-room looking for Myers with absolutely no fear. In a confrontation we've been waiting for, eyes are gouged, fingers are bitten, knives are grappled... Poor Laurie even goes out a window. She's down but not out...
This truly is the Halloween showdown fans have waited for. The smarts and sheer grit displayed by Laurie and her family as they launch attack after attack keeps us constantly cheering for them. Judy Greer's Karen earns her place in franchise history as she expertly tricks Myers into taking a bullet through his iconic mask. We can't help but smile smugly as the women trap their tormentor in the basement and he stares up at them from his cell in a now-iconic shot. The house burns down to a wonderfully hopeful rendition of the Halloween theme by John Carpenter and as an audience we are exhausted, but oh-so-satisfied. This movie's non-stop final act definitely gave fans what they've been screaming for.
