10 Amazing Supporting Characters You Wish Movies Were Centred On

5. Lucy McClane - A Good Day To Die Hard

Die Hard is one of the most iconic, and quintessential action flicks of all time. Fast forward 25 years, however, and the franchise limped over the finish line a mere shell of what it once was. After an outstanding trilogy, Die Hard 4.0 was disappointing, and by A Good Day to Die Hard it was just getting sad.

One of the few good aspects of Die Hard 4.0 was the introduction of an older and cynical Lucy Gennero (Mary Elizabeth Winstead). Though she went by her mom's name initially, there was clearly a lot of McClane in her, and by the end of the film, after John's (Bruce Willis) heroics, she had decided to take back her dad's name.

As an established character, it would have made for a more interesting story in the fifth movie to put Lucy in the forefront, rather than her brother Jack (Jai Courtney), who no one knew anything about and frankly, had no reason to care about.

Though Lucy did return for A Good Day to Die Hard, it was very much a bit part, and while centering the movie around her wouldn't have saved the dying franchise, it would have at least made for a more interesting spectacle. Hell, Justin Long could have even returned as Matthew Farrell just to add another dynamic for John McClane to get used to.
