10 Amazing Things Hidden In Se7en

1. Significance Of Seven

The number seven has far more significance in Se7en than simply referring to the deadly sins that lead the sadistic serial killer to choose his victims. The numerical figure is used multiple times throughout the movie.

Detective Lieutenant William Somerset is seven days away from retirement when the film begins, although he eventually decides to stay on longer to finish the case. The number also appears on buildings and office doors throughout the film and the delivery of the box at the end of the movie was scheduled for 7pm.

Most notably however, director David Fincher left a little Easter egg towards the end of the movie, which is sure to get all movie nerds excited. Exactly seven minutes before the film ends, Somerset says “He will win” to his partner Mills in regards to Doe, shortly before Doe gets his final wish and Mills shoots him dead.

Amazingly, the movie was the seventh highest-grossing film of 1995. Also, including this sentence, the figure has been mentioned seven times in this entry.

Coincidence...? Yes.
