10 Amazing Trailers That Tricked You Into Seeing Terrible Horror Movies

I'm sure some of you reading this will scoff that a Conjuring spin-off was always destined to be bad. After all, fans hated Annabelle, so why would The Nun (with a title as boring as "The Nun") fare any better?

Well the answer is the trailer promised something we hadn't quite seen from this franchise before. Going all-in on the religious plot, The Nun's trailer promised big, gothic scares with a solid cast and some visually stunning locations.

The Nun herself - or as she's known in the movies, Valek - was a terrifying presence in The Conjuring 2, and nothing was lost in translation in the initial teaser. Lurking in the shadows, Valek appears only briefly but promises so much to come from her headline appearance.

Sadly, the atmosphere of the trailer was completely lost in the finished film. While it's not without merit and some new ideas, it is slow, drab, and utterly soulless. A villain like Valek remains scary in spurts, but she's mostly lost under a shallow script and daft plot twists.

The Nun has so much potential, but you're better off watching the trailer or sticking with The Conjuring 2.
