10 Animated Movies That The Next Generation Will Likely Miss

7. The Pagemaster (1994)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u-gJr7iU6kI It can be argued that The Pagemaster is not an animated film because it starts out in the real world, however, the bulk of this tale takes place in the animated world that we have all longed to be a part of, at one point or another. Starring a post-Home Alone Macaulay Culkin, this film revolves around a child€™s imagination when faced with the reality of an ignored library. He plays Richard Tyler, a cowardly brain, who gets trapped in a storm and seeks shelter in the library. After he slips on the wet floor, he knocks himself out, only to come to into an animated world where he meets book after book who need his help in completing their journeys written within their own pages. In order for Richard to get back to the real world and find the exit to the library, he must overcome the battles within the epic tales and save the books from becoming victims of their own content. This film will inevitably be lost on children of the next generation because the importance of books has really taken a back seat to technological advances. Kids in school read because they are assigned to read. Nine out of ten children don€™t like to read and, when they do, try very little to retain any of the story they€™ve read, let alone dismantle it to figure out what it is the story was trying to say in the first place. This is not a stab at parenting or teaching or what have you. It is just that technology, the internet, and everything else that is thrown at these kids constantly distracts them from the simple things in life that we used to enjoy.
