3. The Brave Little Toaster (1987)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Td3WCwNYVs The only Disney movie on this list, this film is the film that used to give children complexes about leaving their inanimate objects behind. A guy grows up and moves to the big city leaving behind his beloved toaster, desk lamp, vacuum, electric blanket, and radio, who miss and love him dearly. Off on an adventure they go where they run into other inanimate objects, each with their own problems, giving the sheltered appliances a look at life outside of their cabin. Throw in a few songs and a terrifying glimpse at a junkyard conclusion for unloved automobiles and youve got yourself the only component you need to turn your child into a hoarder. In the early 90s, I could turn on the TV at any given time and catch this movie at any point in its plot. That, sadly, is no more, but why? Toy Story. Toy Story 2. Toy Story 3. It was almost as if The Brave Little Toaster was the first child that Disney birthed, but quickly abandoned when the second child was born without polio. Still, this film does have a cult following that will ensure it carries on through their bloodlines. Thanks to the fatherhood of Pixar, though, every broadcasting system has put their VHS version of The Brave Little Toaster on a back shelf labeled will never broadcast again outside of anniversary.
