10 Announced Horror Movies That Will Never Be Released

3. The Lost Boys Reboot

Constantine
Warner Bros

The Lost Boys is one of the most beloved horror movies of the 1980s or, well, ever, and so it was just a matter of time before Hollywood tried to make fetch happen with it again.

And indeed, in September 2021 Warner Bros. announced that they were developing a "reimagining" of the IP, and more to the point, they already had names attached to it.

Rising actors Noah Jupe and Jaeden Martell were announced to star, while Jonathan Entwistle (Karate Kid: Legends) was signed to direct what's been described as a modern take on the original vampire story.

Yet we've heard virtually nothing about this reboot in the four years since it was first announced, and honestly, it might well be for the best.

This is a tough franchise to resurrect considering how decidedly of-its-era the original is - in a good way - and how difficult it will be to replicate its style and charm.

Some things are better off left alone, and that's definitely true of The Lost Boys.

And so, it's hard to feel bad about the fact that this new take may well have already tumbled into development hell.
