10 Announced Movie Sequels Happening WAY Too Late

Mel Brooks' sci-fi parody classic Spaceballs wasted no time at all angling for a sequel, with the movie itself straight-up promising follow-up Spaceballs 2: The Search for More Money.

Almost 40 years later though, it still hasn't materialised, yet it was recently revealed that Spaceballs 2 is indeed finally in early development, with Josh Gad set to star and produce alongside Brooks, while Josh Greenbaum (Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar) will direct.

And yet, it's tough not to feel like Spaceballs 2 is coming far too late.

With Brooks being 98 years of age, it's incredibly unlikely he'll have a hands-on role in the sequel's development, so there's a strong possibility it'll turn out similar to Brooks' atrocious recent sequel series History of the World, Part II.

And of course, it's fair to assume that most of the original cast won't be returning - certainly John Candy, who passed away 30 years ago.

Spaceballs 2 should've happened in the 2000s at the absolute latest, to coincide with the release of the Star Wars prequels.
