10 Anticipated 2016 Movies That Have Already Lost The Oscar Race

The Buzz: Though the Best Animated Feature Oscar race seems already sewn up by either Zootopia or Finding Dory (even with Disney's Moana still to come), never discount a left-field masterpiece coming out of nowhere, like the latest movie from Garth Jennings (Son of Rambow).

Though on paper the "animals having a singing contest" premise doesn't sound remotely Oscar-worthy, Jennings' previous film had plenty of heart and suggests he'll probably make more of this concept than you might otherwise expect.

Plus, if it even counts in the animated realm, it stars Oscar winners Matthew McConaughey and Reese Witherspoon, alongside Seth MacFarlane, Scarlett Johansson, John C. Reilly, and many more.

Why It's Already Lost: To be fair, reviews have been surprisingly positive out of Toronto, with Sing touting a 100% Rotten Tomatoes score at the time of press.

However, it's worth paying attention to that average score: this is a firm 7/10 movie, which means it won't be putting up much of a fight against the animated field's two big-hitters.
