8. The Mountain Between Us

The Buzz: Adapted from Charles Martin's much-loved disaster romance novel, co-starring Oscar darling Kate Winslet and written by Oscar-winning scribe Chris Weitz (About a Boy), this one's got awards hopeful written all over it.

Why It's Already Lost: Reviews out of TIFF are mixed for the most part, praising the efforts of Winslet and Idris Elba, but deeming their work in service of a fairly familiar survival film that doesn't operate much outside its genre box.

Critics have certainly been more positive than not, but it's a mere three stars all the way for this one, sadly. It's fine, but you don't need to rush out to see it.
