The Buzz: Dual Oscar-winner and eight-time nominee Denzel Washington leads an unconventional legal drama as the titular character, a lawyer who learns that his liberal law firm is involved in some very shady shenanigans indeed. Oscar-nominated writer-director Dan Gilroy (Nightcrawler) helms, and Colin Farrell co-stars.

Why It's Already Lost: Though critics have generally praised Washington for his impressively off-the-wall performance, the film as a whole has only barely scraped a Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and it seems to be another disappointing three-star movie that was capable of so much more.

Washington could sneak a passion-driven Best Actor nomination at best, especially given his general favour with the Academy, but it's looking more likely that this one ends up nominated for nothing.
