9. Best TV Series (Musical Or Comedy) Brooklyn Nine-Nine
Brooklyn Nine-Nine is, to be fair to, a much better show than I would have imagined it to be in my wildest dreams. That said, is it really better than The Big Bang Theory, Girls, Modern Family and Parks and Recreation? I'll give it the benefit of the doubt with regards to Big Bang and Modern Family, but Girls and Parks and Recreation? Girls may have suffered from winning major awards last year and as such was pushed out of the running, but this year was the first time Parks and Rec had received a Globe nomination for the show itself, and to me it really felt like this was the year for it to win. Awards shows have a habit of falling over themselves to award a new talent or project that comes out of nowhere, and so that may be the reason for Brookyln's win, given that it's a relatively smart, fresh subversion of cop show tropes. Still, there would have been other years for Brooklyn, whereas Parks and Rec is slowly winding down now, so is unlikely to be nominated for this award again. Shame.
Stay at home dad who spends as much time teaching his kids the merits of Martin Scorsese as possible (against the missus' wishes).
