10 Awesome 2018 Movies Everyone Thought Would Suck

1. Set It Up

Why It Should've Sucked: The trailers for this summer Netflix rom-com made it look like...every other Netflix Original rom-com you've scrolled past in disgust.

With its daft premise - two overworked employees conspire to make their a**hole bosses fall in love - and seemingly straight-faced execution, how could this possibly be any good?

Why It Was Awesome: Though Set It Up does follow a pretty familiar narrative trajectory, Katie Silberman's script boasts just enough self-awareness to stand out from the pack.

It's the thoroughly charming performances from Zoey Deutch and Glen Powell which really make this one sing, though, not to mention fun work from the perfectly-cast Taye Diggs and Lucy Liu as the horrible bosses.

Rather than pander to audiences with over-sentimental truisms, Set It Up takes a dated premise and updates it with plenty of snarky humour and a distinctly contemporary outlook.

Seriously, don't ignore this one, because it's way more entertaining than it looks.
