10 Awesome Action Movies That Didn't Need A Sequel, Remake Or Reboot
9. The Last Boy Scout
Out of all the buddy movies that started crawling out of the woodwork in the late-80s to early-90s following the success of Lethal Weapon, the criminally underrated The Last Boy Scout boasted more than enough pedigree to establish itself as a franchise.
With Shane Black writing, Joel Silver producing, Tony Scott directing and Bruce Willis in the lead role, it isn't a surprise that it turned out to be one of the better entries in what had quickly become one of Hollywood's favorite sub-genres, and it even did decent business at the box office to boot after pulling in almost $115m worldwide on a $43m budget.
The stage seemed to have been set for more adventures between the bickering duo of Willis' hard-nosed private investigator Joe Hallenbeck and Damon Wayans' disgraced football player Jimmy Dix, with the movie's ending seemingly setting the stage for their next adventure.
However, both Black and Scott voiced their dissatisfaction at how the original script was translated to the big screen and the production itself was said to be a nightmare, meaning that a sequel was never really an option given all of the tension on set.
