10 Awesome Actors Who Automatically Improve Any Movie By Their Presence
5. A Hearty Portion Of Awesome - John Goodman
Some actors, like Arnold Schwarzenegger and Dwayne Johnson, rely on their physical stature to do a large part of the acting for them. The next entry on the list is often cast for his hefty physique but he also brings serious acting chops along with it: the beloved John Goodman.
As of late, Goodman has been somewhat of a lucky rabbit's foot for prestige pictures, having supporting turns in Best Picture winning films The Artist and Argo, but the reliable character actor has been delivering consistently stellar supporting performances since his break out role as Dan Connor in the immensely popular sitcom Roseanne.
The Cohen brothers, known for creating quirky and offbeat characters, have an uncanny ability at picking the right actor for the right role in their features and have tapped Goodman on numerous occasions to bring his ever-reliable acting chops to bear. Goodman has created some of his most memorable characters in Cohen films; from the frightening lunatic Charlie Meadows in Barton Fink, to the physically intimidating Cyclops of O Brother, Where Art Thou?, to the hilariously unhinged, gun-toting Walter Sobchak of The Big Lebowski.
Over the course of his numerous film and television roles, Goodman brings the goods each and every time, be it in dramas like Flight or frat boy comedies like Revenge of the Nerds.
